Any time the ownership of land changes a transfer of land must be filed at land titles to change the names on the title. This is as true when an interest in the land is acquired by a family member as it is when all of the land is purchased by a total stranger. All transfers of land, including those to family members, must list as transferees all of the people who will own the land after the transfer is registered, even if they are already on title.
Please be aware that all of the people who appear on the title as owners must sign the transfer of land form, even if they are also the transferees (they will still be owners after the transfer is registered). Please also be aware that upon the registration of a transfer of land there is, in addition to the registration fee, a land transfer tax that may have to be paid.
